The Journal Citation Reports (JCR) database tracks all impact factors for 12,061 journals. The IF is published annually by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and is defined as the number of citations in the previous year (e.g. 2015 for the IF released in 2016) to the citations to articles published in the preceding 2 years (e.g. 2013-2014), divided by the number of articles published during that time.
It would be a little bit reductionist to say that impact factor (IF) is for marketing the journal; this is the journal-driven dimension of IF. Self-citation aside, IF is a coefficient of the number of times articles in a given journal are cited by other authors. It is, therefore, tempting for authors to seek to publish in such journals, because doing so brings them a reputation, which is the author-driven dimension of IF. In attracting authors to publish, journals are only marketing for themselves indirectly.
It is not a marketing tool. But it told us that this journal is not fake and followed the ethics and guidelines. In addition, it showed the reputation of the journal and its arrangement in the field.
on of the high impact is the good market, but these are coming from deep articles have been published in it therefore many citations have got compared with number of the articles Per two or three years.

Impact factor shows the credibility of a journal. It is an indirect measurement of the quality of papers published. Impact factor shows the citation of a paper. Thus one must try to publish paper in good impact factor journal only. This concept of impact factor is also being used by the journal office as marketing tool. Since this era belongs to advertisement. So high impact factor of a journal instigates us to publish in it.
impact factor journal is marketing tool in this sense if they are getting high amount of charges in terms of publications. Researchers some times fail to publish papers in reputable journals due to the demand of the charges. It is good that IF indicates authentication of journal but charges should be reasonable.

It depends upon the type of journal. I think standard, indexed, peer reviewed journals are not using any marketing tool.
It is hard to directly address the quality of a journal. Therefore, in the absence of hard data that actually prove quality, journals cite "indicators of quality."
Impact factors, citation indexes, and even publishing through an established company like Elsevier, IGI, or Sage and Indicators of quality" but do not totally guarantee that every article will be of the highest quality.

Partially yes. It's a closed circle (at least how I understand it) whereby reputation and credibility of the journal is directly influenced by researches and studies published. On the other end, in order to attract high quality research outcomes and studies, journals found a scale how to distinct among themselves. At the end of a day, its a huge industry.
We can little bit say that IF is a marketing tool because in marketing we shows our USP and IF shows quality of research published in journal.
