To look for hemoglobinase vs other proteases, you could consider pH and Cys protease inhibitors. Hemoglobinase degradades human hemoglobin at acidic pH (3.0-5.5). It will also be inhibited by cysteine proteinase inhibitor (e.g. E-64).
