Is hemoglobinase present only in hemoglobin-containing organism or in any organism?

Can any protease cleave hemoglobin? I performed hemoglobinase activity of my recombinant enzyme expressed in E.coli with partial purification and I'm not sure if the activity comes from my enzyme...
