Hi,Fredrik.As far as I know, graphene is different from GO in properties and structures.GO is polar but graphene is nonpolar, GO is hydrophilic but graphene is hydrophobic relatively. Whether you can use GO, instead of graphene depends your actual needs. Good luck with your research.

Graphite oxide is not the same as graphene oxide...graphene directly from electrochemically exfoliated graphite .in this case no graphite oxide or GO phases are nessesery...

Both are different. final product of the oxidation method commonly known as graphite oxide which is multi layered and appeared in brownish color. exfoliation converts graphite oxide into higly stabilized individual layers known as graphene oxide.

Simply Graphene oxide is the exfoliated product of graphite oxide.

The difference in graphene oxide and graphite oxide is majorly about the interlayer difference between the two sheets. Graphene oxide is usually obtained from the aqueous solution of graphite oxide using high ultrasonic waves for atleast 1h. Graphene oxide sheets would not be stacked with another sheet like in the case of graphite oxide.
