I am going to work on hyper spectral images. My work will be on development of unsupervised algorithms for hyper spectral images. I want to do pre processing in hyper spectral images like atomospheric correction, geometric correction or may be some post processing. Which one will be best suited for this purpose? ENVI or ERDAS?
Hello, both can do the job. It's up to you to chose. Personally, I am more familiar with Envi's interface so I prefer it.
You can take a tour on some video tutorials on YouTube so you can make your choice.

envi is widely used software for hyperspectral processing. There are many python module such as SPy, PyPi, HypPy, Hyperspy etc and R modules such as Hsdar and HperSpec for hyperspectral processing. Matlab is also used for feature extraction, statistical analysis, PCA, PLS etc.

ENVI is the best for remote sensing analysis. I find working with ENVI very logical. It has Spectral Angular Mapper for hyperspectral data so I think it should be better for your work.

for analyzing hyper-spectral data , ENVI is widely used and there are tutorials available in ENVI help.
and most of these tutorials are also available on youtube.
