I am designing a cylindrical air heater for heating the air from 30 °C to about 500 °C. The flow rate is about 150 m3/hr which is induced by a blower. The diameter is about 10 cm. I want to calculate the heater capacity and after that length. It's a steady state problem. When I referred the texts, only energy balance is used for calculating the heater capacity and not any heat transfer concepts. Normally electrical heating will be considered as constant heat flux BC. Can anybody shed some light on this.
