I think the answer to your question is highly sensitive to your definitions. I use “community sustainabilty is the capacity of the people of a community to meet their needs using their time and skills, and the energy, resources, and ecological functions of the land which they are co-stewards of, in perpetuity “, and i hold that no form of sustainability has meaning outside of the community context. From that perspective,some diversity will add resilience, but too much diversity will make it impossible for a community to have a concensus of what is required to meet meeds.
