I don't think your concept is either useful or harmful.  The construct of cinema is one of many tools in your communications toolbox that you can use as a theologian to share your observations and research with the non-theologians in our midst.  As a part-time songwirter and musician, I use the consructs of cinema to help me tell a visual emotional story in 3-4 minutes; also applies nicely to a 30 minute oral presentation of scientific data.  Seems to me that this sort of thinking could guide the theologian author/writer as she/he seeks to help the listener receive complex theological constructs in a more accessible way. 

Films have its own goals, it could be money, propaganda and so on. But films are a mirror of society, and we should think about it when we are doing philosophy or theology.

I think, the whole question is a wrongly worded question. It could be 'religion' and not 'theology'. I mean for theology one needs a specialized thinker; but 'religion' becomes quite 'popular' and 'public affair'. Theology that has its base reason, I think remains untouched. But religion does get affected. Now, it is not the job of film-maker to check out if the effect is harmful or useful in the realm of religion, film is an independent art form and not social reformer. One can philosophize film, no doubt, but the philosophizing need to be done after the film is released. I feel there has to be full freedom to the film-maker to produce the film he wants to make where there is no inference from anyone. But the social-scientist, sociologist or philosopher have to debate whether it is harmful or useful to religion.  

First, you seem to be clearly writing from a Christian theological perspective, probably Roman Catholic. If this is  so, you must be aware that the RC church has definite opinions and rules about the value of films. In fact, there used to be the Legion of Decency which evaluated every new film in terms of language, behavior, nudity, etc. Some films were "condemned." So I think you need to be clear about the use of films by religious leadership.

I believe that you need to be clear about the difference between theology (study of God, things divine, systems, etc.,) and religion (groups which follow or seek God in a certain, organized way). (My field is religious studies and I also teach some theology).

All thinking can be helpful, and learning from many sources is good. Film is a communication tool and a form of entertainment. So the scholar's response needs to be carefully determined. Are there some films which offer a message which is wholesome and helpful? Certainly. Finding them is a large project. For example, when Schindler's List came out, some silly people objected because this fact-based story of a non-Jew who saved many Jews, included footage from the concentration camps, the mass graves. That was shocking, and also eye-opening. Other films are violent from beginning to end, have no redeeming value (?), are there to scare and horrify but for the sake of "satisfaction" - that may be inappropriate, right?
