A state state govt. in western India built a jetty for local fishermen & this resulted in eroding most of the sandy beach on which they were beaching their wooden boats & also used to mend their nets.As the beach is existing to a level of only 20% of the original area, fishermen are forced to float their boats all the time.During the monsoon months the waves lash the coastal road to such an extent that the fishermen are forced to shift their habitations to quite an interior area, not able to make use of the road any more.
A state govt. in Southern India erected a landing jetty for trawlers & this has resulted in eroding 80% of a pristine beach & was about to wipe out a State High way, when the authorities erected a defence wall to protect the high way.
In both the above cases,no study of coastal currents was made entailing loss of natural resources.
Climate change affects the costs in several ways. The variation of temperature and flow in the estuaries of the rivers produce a change in metabolism of water and, consequently, of biotic production. An example is the zebra mussel that spreads out upstream by distribution channels and obstructs water flow severely affecting the economy of the area. Another coastal aspect is the temperature on the coast that changes the factors comfort threshold of tourist which will produce a change in preferences and visitor population displacement, therefore it will have an impact on the economy. And so on, other factors to consider
