With using scherrer equation, because we use XRD pattern, crystal size is calculated not particle size. Also, when the particle sizes measured by SEM are smaller than 100 nm we can use the equation. And we should use a peak with miller indices of 00l or 0k0 or h00 for calculating FWHM. However, SEM or FESEM is used for morphology determination of particle and TEM is used for size determination of particles.
FWHM is the peak width of the diffraction peak profile at half maximum height in degree scale.
Debye-Scherrer formula is more accurate for calculation of the average crystallite size. It may have a bit error. I do not think it is correct to calculation of particles sizes.
Hi @arziye Parishani, the particle size is no calculated by Debye-Scherrer formula with this formula is cualulated Crystallite sizes (not particle sizes) and is not necessary to consider the FWHM of the instrument, but if you want obtanied a good results consider it.
