I was wondering what will happen to a particle inside a microfluidic channel under electric field gradient.

Suppose the surfaces of the channel and the particle are charged with same polarity. When an electric field gradient is imposed along the channel, electroosmotic flow will occur at the bulk fluid. But at the same time, the particle will experience an electrophoretic transport at the opposite direction.

So my question is that will the velocity of the particle be the sum of electroosmotic flow and electrophoretic flow? or am I missing something?

Thanks!
