I'm curious to know if there is work that looks at how common first names (e.g., George, Kelly) are processed, through the lens of an existing word processing model (e.g., DRC).
You may want to take a look at infants learning of their own first names by Mandell, Jusczyk & Pisoni, 1995; and how they use their names to learn other words (Bortfeld et al. 2005). Our work as well looks at infants' learning of objects' names such as Gow and Chi, where mothers treat these names as the first names of each object (Gogate, Bolzani & Betancourt, 2006) within a dynamic systems model of word learning.
