I want to offer a mechanism for renewable energy production of structures in the deep sea. The structure must be self-sufficient in energy supply. What strategy do you recommend to me?؟ Thank you
At the sea bed depth will be in order of 60m, there will be a temperature difference in the water temperature at the surface and water at the sea bed. You may consider the use of this low temperature difference for different applications. Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) can support for the following:
1. Thermal distillation of seawater to potable water.
2. Thermo-Electric Generators can provide DC current.
As rightly pointed out by Haiderali, off shore wind turbines is one solution as the winds will be available through out 24 hrs.
To augment the energy availability, one can think of Solar PV panels as well to produce electricity during day hours. But as pointed out, the base structures will be a problem and hence floating platforms will be an option.
But the energy availability from OTEC, will be pretty low and can be used only for low energy applications.
