SRI principles have been creatively adapted to suit the cultivation practices for finger millet, making it possible to produce 3-4 times more crop than with farmers’ traditional practices, without depending on new varieties. It does use small amounts of purchased inputs along with mostly organic inputs. It should be useful for both farmers and village extension workers. It is intended to help small and marginal farmers with limited resources to produce more for themselves with their available resources and to gain more financially.
