Maghemite (gama-Fe2O3) has a similar structure of that of magnetite(Fe3O4). So, it is not easy to identify the Maghemite using XRD. that is why I am asking if you know another instrument to use to identify the Maghemite.
Try the good old reflected light microscopy (see P. Ramdohr, The Ore Minerals and their Intergrowths).

if u want to find with XRD u can use match software ... It wil give u exact find... otherwise i recommend Rebeca Fortes-Martín mam as she said to take XPS. Xps give u the whole thing. Other method is Edax In edax u can find it through the element composition %.
