if the agarose powder did not get wet, it should still work. I also used "expired" agarose since its too expensive to throw away. Just try to make a gel and see if it dissolves as expected. For further checks you could run electrophoresis with a marker and a PCR product of known size and see if it fits.
yes agarose is very stable if kept dry and I would have no problem with using it. Any small changes will be reflected both in the size standard and the samples so results will not vary much
It is hard to say, as there is always a reason for company to list the expired date for agarose powder. I suggest that you run a trial with the standard sample to check the effectiveness of the agarose.
Actually, I was looking in our lab and found an agarose powder that "expired" in 2012. As expected I could successfully make a gel (3%, TBE) from that powder. Gelling and electrophoretic separation of a small PCR product were without any problems.
can you use expired agar agar to make different culture medias like PDA and CMA. if yes will it effect the growth of the organism (in my case fungus). Please suggest if anyone have had any experience with an expired agar agar, Thanks
