A comparison betweel BLCD and PM-Machine is not making sense as they physically are the same.
In comparison to an AC- asynchronous induction machine, they don't suffer from magnetizing losses and thus are more efficient by a few percent - if so. It might sum up to maybe 5% depending on the Quality of the ASM you compare to,
This number is true only for a comparison in power.
You could compare the same form factor or volume, then things Change because the PM-machine has a higher power density.
Yes, BLDC could be considered most efficient in medium and low rating motors...

Especially if general statements like "P=VI" are given which scares me quite heavily :-)
To my knowledge, the electric power should be Pel=Uline-to-line*I*cos(phi)*sqrt(3)

Agree Wikipedia can not be considered as an authentic source to quote. Especially on technical issues. Good journals reject Wikipedia citations with utmost disdain.
