what about the Belief that the mucosal healing in edentulous ridge by secondary wound healing ( leaving bone bare without soft tissue covering) result in more quality kertinized mucosa when compared to simple primary wound healing (that can be gained by suture).

secondary epithelization actually increases the amount of keratinized mucosa but, regarding the quality, i think it dose not differ from that resulted from the primary closure because they are histologically identical.

Hello dears. well, I think here we are dealing with multifactorial process. First, secondary healing has possibility to create more keratinized epithelium, but here there should be at least a layer of cells having such characteristic of hyper keratinization in order to get a wider layer. Second, which is I think more important there should be some loading, friction forces over the area to enhance the epithelium to protect it self by keratinization, because as you know, growth and differentiation is something need-related, if there is no need, there gonna be no growth and no differentiation.
