The US policy stance of past years has been driving a pendulum swingowards reshoring / rising of barriers at the global level. This will likely be mitigated by the Biden administration, but there are good reasons for a "correction" based on fiscal treatment to continue. However, this might well be accompanied by continuing integration within Europe and, maybe, in other regions.

Our internal market is too small, our geographic position is too good not to use this opportunity, and too dangerous to lose our political independence again. Currently, there’s a globalisation backlash. It has failed billions of people. The era of open markets and open borders is under threat, its demise hastened by the climate crisis, populism and now coronavirus.

In my opinion, it depends on the diversification of countries. In developed countries, there is a strategy to decrease globalization and on the other hand in developing countries, governments try to be one of the residents of the global village.

I am of the opinion that once a person has tasted the sweetness of cake, the lingering desire and cravings for more persists for a lifetime. So goes the world; once its tasted the sweetness of money and wealth realized from international trade and business development. Wealth and power will always be a motivating factor to push and promote participation in globalization and the securing of personal, governmental and corporate economic increase. Whether by the hands of the many or the hands of the few, it will continue and grow.

In the health sector (and related activities), business has never been as flourishing as in this period (globalization or non-globalization; protectionism or non-protectionism).

I consider that despite the cultural homogenization, for example, in the megatrends that Faith Popocorn explains; there is no real globalization process. This is due to, there is not a trade of all against all, but rather protectionism at the level of the economic block.

In my opinion there are two different things. First one the long run, I mean decades. In the long run globalization will win, it has always been that way. Second one the short time, I mean next three to five years, globalization will probably change being more selective in which product and persons can travel. I see that as a direct consequence of Covid. We won´t go to fully closed markets because that happened after the 1929 crisis and it ended badly.

So, the short answer is: globalization will go on but at a slower speed.

As a layman, it is difficult to talk about globalization in our time. The facts tell a different story. The Soviet Union of Socialist Republics broke up into 15 States; Yugoslavia-into 3 States, Moldova broke up into 2 parts; the gagauzs demand independence from Ukraine; Ukraine broke up into 3 parts; Georgia-into 2 parts, the Basques demand independence from Spain; the Irish-from England, etc. A wave of sovereignties has taken over the world. However, the economies of many countries, due to their limited domestic markets, tend to seek external markets, which leads to cooperation and globalization in the distant future.

It essential to distinguish between different industries in the context of globalisation. Some industries will become even more global. Other industries and economic sectors will possibily need to focus much more on local levels.

I firmly believe that different sectors will react to the current developments in different ways, as do states and governments with different types of economic, cultural and social settings. Even among states/nations there are citizens with different opinions, different types of economic elites (some conservative, some pro-globalisation; some enlightened, some less enlightened or less open-minded, pursuing different types of interests, ideologies, beliefs), different levels and types of unemployed people and people experiencing poverty. I am convinced that recognizing such differences could be a starting point for sound and promising research. That's all 🤷‍♂️

Here would agree with Mitja Stefancic - depending on education, social status, beliefs, personal private experience, and lots of other components political reaction, economical reaction, social reaction, private reaction to this phenomenon could be very different, both positive and negative. And the positive and negative concept is also very unclear. It could sound strange at one point, but the collapse of the Soviet Union is also the result of globalization. For the Baltic States, this is very positive and we left the union we consider a threat to us, but we entered another Union - the EU.

Страны Прибалтики вышли из Советского союза Социалистических республик и вошли в ЕС и это было продиктовано волеизъявлением народов этих стран. Великобритания вышла из ЕС по решению народного референдума этой страны. Крым по итогам народного референдума вошел в состав Российской Федерации. Это говорит о многообразии мира, о волне суверенитетов, накрывшей мир. Но будущее за глобализацией. Вот тут вы совершенно правы.

A quick note:

Globalization is not bad in and of itself. Where globalization get is rightfully viewed as bad is where unfair burdens are placed on domestic trade or when governments incentivize foreign trade over domestic trade. Examples include; U.S. tax incentives for having foreign parts as part of U.S. assembled goods, and the U.S. tax on domestically-produced medical equipment (an obamacare tax) whilst not taxing imported medical equipment. Reliving unequal "protections" has been a goal for most free-trade advocates. That said, we cannot have free trade where cheating is rampant because free trade is built upon a foundation of trust. Without Trust, we cannot have free and fair anything.

The business scenario is changed and COVID-19 will have implications. The concept, work from home will get more importance. So I think that further globalization will take place. The technology, particularly teaching and research gets new directions. Most of the work, belongs to service sector will change and manufacturing sectors will remain as it is.

So globalization will increase.

Humanity faces too many problems that can only be solved by uniting: climate change, ecology, anti-terrorist security, the development of the Arctic and Antarctic, the exploration of the earth's core and depths of the ocean, solving the problems of the energy crisis, solving the problems of depletion of fresh water, solving the issues of rapid movement around the planet, solving the problems of hunger and poverty, the exploration of space, the moon, Mars and other planets, etc.

Globalization if it is in win win situation

Globalization of the international economy and finance has no alternative. It will be a long time, through many obstacles and obstacles, but this process cannot be stopped.
