hello everyone, i am trying to apply a load in the end of a beam in a beam to column connection, the load should be applied increamentally to collapse.
my questions are :
1/ how can i apply the load.
2/how can i get the collapse force, if it is not mentionned in the paper.
1. You can apply a prescribed displacement (incrementally) in the direction of the mouvement you choose till failure.
2. You can get the collapse load from In the load-dispalcement curve
apply the load using the load module in abaqus in the first step of the analysis and choose prescribed displacement.
it is very unlikely that the force not be mentioned in the paper. It might be the load-deflection from which you can read the peak load value
For question 1, you can alter increments in the applied load. You will find the option in STEP module I believe. As you increase the number os steps, loading becomes a fine staircase, and vice versa
