First a happy new year, and a 2017 full of achievements and happiness.

Professor sorry for the delay in answering I was traveling and did not have access to my computer so I did not answer earlier.

I am not very apt to answer such questions for my little experience, but as you asked for an opinion I will say which is:

For me it is very important to have regular issues which denote the seriousness and commitment of the journal and its periodic repercussion, that is, it has a regular time of each edition for me, it is extremely important that it be monthly, bimonthly, semi-annual, be regular.

The special issues in my opinion are well seen when there is an event or congress that the journal is directly related, in this way promotes the publication of abstracts and or relevant articles in the area. It is a good way of spreading the journal and covers many researchers and future authors.

Special issues may also focus on a particular subject which will bring other authors who are not yet familiar as the journal is a great outreach tool.

And for me all issues should be indexed on some platform that brings reliability and seriousness to the journal as well as better visualization of the published articles.
