You have to find all the journals in your research area. Then you can rank them according to their impact factor. Depending on your findings and the originality and novelty of your research, then you can select the best suitable journal for you. High impact factor journals will especially look at the novelty and you will have to demonstrate how your research is original.
Microbiology seems to be one topic of yr interest, what is your paper on ? There are many journals which claim to publish papers in shortest possible time, ie about 2 - 3 weeks !
Well, I suggest picking the journal that best suits your research. At the very least you wouldn't waste time being rejected by journals who say that your research paper does not fit the scope of the journal.
the journals with validable index (ISI, Scopus) and free of charge are considered in environmental engineering fields such as water and wastewater sciences (chemistry , biotechnology ...)

For the past several years, the number of journals has increased drastically. At the same time, publishing one's research in a journal has become more and more tough. Majority of new journals are for open access, which requires production fees. Reputed and high impact factor journals are very tough in terms of novelty and so on. Some of the emerging journals are fuss as their treatments towards authors are biased. I have few such experiences. Therefore, it is in general not very easy to publish articles in journals. But, one should not be pessimistic in this regard. Rather, one's needs and target journals should be thoroughly assessed before submission.
I suggest you the Journals of MDPI (http://www.mdpi.com/). They publish several Journals in various fields, including energy and environmental topics. They are open access Journals. The review process is quick and efficient (less than two months); you have tyo pay a fee to get the paper published. They are ISI Journals and indexed also in Scopus.
Depending on how urgently you feel you need to get these data published, there are a number of rapid review journals out there relevant to microbiology. I suggest looking into Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. (one of the fastest), or Frontiers in Microbiology. It is likely you will have to sacrifice publishing your work in a journal with a lower impact factor to get it out more quickly, so this is a tradeoff to carefully consider. Good luck!
There is also the factor of BRAND NAME that one will have to look at. For example, if the paper originates from the topmost and well known universities, then it would be taken in without much scrutiny. I have seen my mentor receiving a paper that states that silver nano particles when combined with antibiotics are better than antibiotics alone but showing tabulations of results the other way round. Totally illogical. But what to do? The paper originates from a university of repute and they cannot be wrong! World would come to an end if it was. On the other hand, it was really difficult for me to publish a paper.
One irritating reason that I had received was this: Sorry, although we have included this genre in our aims and scope, we have decided not to accept papers like these. Thus the paper was summarily rejected without even reaching reviewers. If only I had a FAMOUS affiliation. But tell me, how can the institute become great if there were political blocks like these?
Another thing: It is difficult to publish the first paper. Once that is done, it is considerably easy to publish in the same area. Its basically like struggling to build a reputation as a model. Once done, even if better models arrive, you will ever be left unquestioned and worshiped by others.
I think, shorten duration for publication of a good work is not matter for a good researcher. Matter is that how's your work in term of novelty, obviousness. If u have done novel work, will published in good IF journal. First important thing is that to choose the correct journal for publication according to ur research work i.e ur related work should currently publishing in that particular journal. Don't matter that either you are publishing first article or not as far as my experience is concern. Another thing is that if u are published a good article in a reputed journal, u will create good reputation in research worldwide.
As a review, I can say that some journals ask me to review of the manuscripts in 20 days. However some of journals want it in 45 days. These times are changing according to publication periods of the journals. I think these are not important. If your manuscript is well written and if it has a good story, eventually, it will be published. You should search and find a journal that appropriate to your research area and send it.

I suspect that those following this thread will have worked out that there is no 'easy' fix to fast publishing. If there were one - it would probably look like acceptance in a low-qualIty, low-impact, high personal cost journal
I think you have to make short list of good journals that their aims and scopes agree with the area of your study and then you check their publication frequency. I don't advise you to rush submitting your paper, you have to exactly follow the format required for that selected journal because the more you rush without carefully checking - even small details such as typing mistakes and spelling - the more you delay. You have to read and edit your paper many times.
