I believe there is a need for traditional play to keep children emotionally, physically, and socially healthy. Children--and adults are in the same category--cannot forego physical activity and human interaction all day sitting in front of a screen and maintain health. Obesity, depression, and poor overall health are byproducts of COVID-19. My research, a mixed methods study, supports the need for a humanistic approach to schooling.
Traditional play is much better than electronic play because in traditional play the child acquires better skills in terms of interaction with others and with the material and urges the child to think creativity and innovation
Interesting question and replies. I guess any kind of education can be beneficial, depending on the general conditions. Of course, Teaching should be appropriately planned in any case.
Before deciding on which option to choose between online education vs traditional education for a child, it is important to first weigh the pros and cons of each. You must objectively look at the strength of both options and pick one that offers more solid benefits.
Online education vs Traditional Education: Which one is better ? Following articles compare the two.
Although electronic games train quick and instantaneous reasoning, in child development phase, I believe that the imaginative process of manual manipulation of objects causes learning to be interpreted physically, which leads to the knowledge of physical dimensions and dexterity of manual manipulation that allows human being to recognize and absorb textures, temperature, mass, among other important physical aspects of traditional games.
In traditional games there is importance in imagination! Imagination arouses interest and curiosity. Curiosity in the learning and knowledge processes. And natural knowledge leads to wisdom and teaching. Everything that humanity always needs!
I don't think that one should suppress other, but phases of its use should be very well defined, in which traditional games should occupy most of children's time, and then when younger teenagers, fifty-fifty. As more adults, we know that electronic gaming apps dominate people.
I am particularly from Atari's time, from young to adolescent, and I remember very well my parents' rules of use for two hours daily without exceptions, the rest of the time traditional games and physical activities.
Many parents prefer to hand their children over to electronic games, given the fact that they can do it themselves. In most traditional games, there is a need for more people involved and often parents. Current parents are also dominated by electronic devices, which in this case are their own phones.
The fact is that the world society, knows that complete substitution of physical activities in open air and traditional games, has stopped being the preference. Similar to lack of reading and writing (https://www.researchgate.net/post/In_the_future_with_advances_in_technology_surround_us_what_will_human-machine_relationship_be_like_What_is_impact_in_formation_of_human_knowledge).
Everything in life depends on a fragile balance to be consistent with what is important with what is not. I realize that this balance has always tended towards what is not important.
All kinds of games. It is important that it does not transform into a game addiction, having lost its original purpose - to return a person to their holistic nature. And in order for a person to adequately realize their game impulse, they must learn to distinguish a true game from its illusion. The arbitrary and ill-advised use of a gaming factor often results in little controlled processes and unexpected results in practice.
It has to be traditional play. How can you learn negotiation, conflict resolution, restorative skills, in a virtual world? Banduras Social Learning Theory is clear evidence to this end.
I am not a technophobe, it has its place in learning and is immeasurably valuable, i don't believe it replaces human interaction. See the work of Dr Lalith Mendis, his research demonstrates the down side to constant reliance on tech;

Traditional play is very important for the child because it helps him through the alternation of roles to grow up, to socialize, to join groups, to feel a member of a community, to prepare for adulthood.
I think we should encourage both traditional outdoor games and modern electronic games. When outdoor activities help a child develop physical and social and emotional skills the electronic games facilitate certain essential skills that learners are going to apply in their future jobs. Children who are able to strike a balance between these two extremes are more likely to be successful in life.
both.........I agree with Binu Pathippallil Mathew since each has its benefits. It presents opportunities in varying capacities to develop differented skills.
