In the past atomistic modeling, evolving from bulk material Analysis in physics and theoretical chemistry, it has found also some applications in other fields of Research and even in engineering. My Impression is that most of the Simulations basically only Imitate what has been done already before, often without any significant progress, but not really expanding or developing into new Regimes or Areas. What is your Impression or opinion about the Situation and future of atomistic modeling?
In my opinion, previous simulations are parametric modeling, in which modeling depend in some parameters and empirical results, with shrinking the devices, new concepts are needed to get a clearer picture, that's why atomistic simulation seems very promising.
