In which areas of business operation and development is the use of Business Intelligence helpful?

Business Intelligence is helpful to all business functions as long as there are data can be collected, coupled with the available of technologies & algorithms. E.g. business intelligence is useful in:

Procurement - to source the best raw materials that meet business requirement e.g. from perspective of lowest cost, best quality, shortest time of delivery or JIT delivery etc.

Manufacturing - with IoT & big data analytics to collect & process many data points to reduce / eliminate machinery downtime, improve operational efficiency, reduce energy consumption, reduce costs etc.

Marketing - with socially / commercially available marketing data e.g. demands, supplies, demographics, social economic status info, POS etc. to perform marketing analysis to determine what products / services to position at what times at which geographical areas to increase total sales / service contract values etc.

Sales - with all the data points pertaining to sales motion e.g. sales stages status, competitor / competitive information, our products / services cost structure, legal compliance, market landscape etc. in a single dashboard, sales or management can better make decision on how to manoeuvre sales strategy, increase sales / wins rates in terms of total contract value size, meeting closure dates, other business expectations etc.
