Not all cyanobacteria are photosynthetic as several websites claim but maybe most cyanobacteria species probably are photosynthetic

Anyway my main question is; In what particular environments (i.e water or soil or rocks etc) are non photosynthetic cyanobacteria most likely to be found? My logic would say they can exist in soil or water bodies with lots of mineral content (which would be more nutrient dense assuming they would be heterotrophic)?

Please let me know any thoughts as I am not really from a biologist background.
