I am currently researching the ethics around rock art removal for collection or preservation of the resource. I aim to draw on projects around the world where rock art removals were done.

What do you mean by 'rock art removal'...
• removal for collection/preservation in museum/storage facility
• removal to create a clean surface (such as in graffity removal)
• removal in order to destroy the rockart and cause psychological harm to its owners/generators?
A well-know example might be the relocation of Abu Simbel Tomb Temples of Ramses II in Egypt.
In the early 20 th Century San (Bushman) rock art has been removed from shelters in South Africa and placed in Cape Town and Bloemfontein museums, possibly at others. This is no longer the practice.
