I am told that in the spectrum of turbulence, energy is transferred losslessly from large lengthscales to smaller ones. This process eventualy feeds energy in to the smallest scales at which viscosity dominates and dissipation to heat occurs. But no one has told me what the mechanism is that transferrs the energy for the spectrum of eddies larger than the kolmagorov microscale.

I would like to discuss this with an informed reader!
