I am interested and multivaraite analysis of ecological data with R.
I have two sets (table X and table Y) of ecological information on a pool of species. information of both table are applied on the same species.
I am interested to have impact of one of the variable coming either from table X or Y on the distribution of my species. I have been told that an CA canonical analysis could help me. However, most of the paper present Canonical correlation Analysis. Are there the same?
With R i fond package for CCA. Tks!

R provides 2 packages: a)'candisc' and b)'cca'
a) 'candisc' package (for Discriminant Analysis generalization- to find differences between groups and to exploit those differences in classifying observations to groups) ; while b) 'cca' package ( Canonical correlation analysis is used to identify and measure the associations among two sets of variables)
Your requirement appears to be to find the differences and to cluster, 'candisc' can be of much use than 'cca'.

and one more thing. the canonical correlation analysis is a combination of canonical analysis and correlation analysis. so you can see it as a branch of canonical analysis.
first, you employ canonical analysis to extract and generate new variables, then apply correlation analysis to the newly generated variables.
