Kindly help me to analysis my TGA weight loss % graph up to to 800 degree weight loss is decreases whereas after 800 degree weight loss increases. can some help me to understand.
I agree with Alan F Rawle . Normally, a TGA is measured under nitrogen atmosphere. If you have a very low mass and/or go to high temperatures, the nitrogen is pushing down on the pan. You see slight increase in mass as a result of the nitrogen flow pushing down on the pan.
You have not given details of the TGA experiment, if it was carried out in air or nitrogen atmosphere.
TGA runs can be carried out in air or nitrogen depending on teh data that is required from the run - in fact for one of our routine experiments we start the run in nitrogen and half way through we change to air; this allows us to get specific information about the material under test.
If materials are tested n air then it is possible for the weight to increase if an oxidation process occurs when the sample reacts with oxygen and hence increases in weight.
Whilst it is possible for bouyancy effects to give changes in weight loss curves this should be generally be allowed for by the software using a blank pan run for correction.
More detials of the run conditions, pan mateiral and sample composition woudl allow people to give further comments.
