The Texas republican, Lamar Smith, wants to impose new criteria for research funding by the NSF. Like the old adage says, however, "you can't judge a book by its cover". I bet there are many examples of grant titles that don't even hint at the discoveries the funded research gave. Anyone know of any examples?
