I am running a simple file-transfer application over TCP in NetSim and want to find out how to calculate the file-transfer throughput, round-trip time(RTT), no. of re-transmitted packets etc.
You can write your code to plot any metric over time in NetSim.

You can find the round trip time for TCP protocol by an equations depended on transmission time and propagation you can find this on some sources like Teninbum book or commutation network of bahrus
Use tcpdump on Linux and/or Wireshark on Window to capture and analyse RTT data.
Most of the information sought is in the Results Dashboard in NetSim.
The file transfer throughput for an FTP application configured in NetSim can be obtained from the Application metrics table.
The parameters such as No. of retransmitted packets, duplicate segments received, RTO timer expiry etc can be found in the TCP metrics table.
RTT can be calculated additionally from NetSim trace files or from Wireshark capture file obtained from the source node using the command:
"C:\Program Files\Wireshark\tshark" -r "WIRED_NODE_2_1.pcap" -Tfields -e frame.time_relative -e tcp.analysis.ack_rtt
which will display the RTT for each packet with respect to time. This can also be logged into a txt file if required.
