The Royal College of Psychiatrists has published a "Framework for Routine Outcome Measurement in Liaison Psychiatry". In it it is suggested to use the IRAC scale (Identify and Rate the Aim of the Contact) to monitor the process and the Clinical Global Impression-Improvement scale (CGI-I) to monitor the outcome of an individual psychiatric liaison referral. Who is the most appropriate person to be asked to complete or rate these particular scales? The psychiatric liaison team who have seen the patient, the referrer, the senior clinician in overall charge of the patient?
