In case coal size in blend more than 50% of -0.5mm, what happens in carbonisation process & effect on coke quality. pls, relate coal size with coking process and coke quality & reply?
During carbonisation process in blend more than 50% of -0.5 mm occurs significant deterioration of caking coal grains, cuz increases surface, decreases interaction
between coal grains, resulting in decreases of coke quality.
Swelling properties of coal of given rank measured by its expansion and contraction is dependent upon particle size and maceral type.It was shown by Van Krevlen in his work.It was also found that changing particle size from 0.150mm to 2.30mm(0.5mm falls in between) coal dialation increased from 72 to 125%.Dialation has strong effect on coking abilty of coal.Simonis model of coke quality prediction(M40,M10) also considers coal size deviation from an optimal size along with other operating parameters for predicting coke quality
Sorry I still investigate in our plant about coal size with coke quality and tar quality. It will be impact with Tar TI quality (Toluen Insoluble,%). If coal size - 3 mm over 83%, Tar TI up to 12%. I'm still confused for this problem. What the happend ?
