Sometimes it creates series of issues. Though your prof. or supervisor advises you all through the process, right from assigning problem statement to analyzing results, should the student's name be placed as first author who worked out the  plan to achieve the goal? I know some professors are always adamant to be the first author irrespective of their contribution. Should they sacrifice a bit for their students?
