In a lesson, there is a duration to manage between several elements that you consider useful in the session. what are the components of your session and how much time is spent for each component.
Managing time during a teaching session claerly depends on your priorities. The exact time spent on singular phases I cannot tell for they vary due to the objectives of each course/session. What I could contribute here is kind of a general framework from my experience as a university teacher who relies much on the academic potential of his students.
For me, I previously try to reduce any aspect of organization in order to provide as much session time as possible.
Next, the most important element is mostly always to keep enough time for students to do research learning resp. findout about things themselves with my guidance & scaffolding when necessary via special information or learning material and tasks (task-oriented teaching&learning).
Initial or intermediate input phases I very often offer multisensory to ensure individual access to learners` memories. These short periods of teaching time I always try to keep clear, concise and non-redundant.
The last 5 minutes of a session I mostly use for feedback or feedforward, for follow-on tasks or a classical homework task (a paper, sth. to prepare etc.).

One of the basic elements in lesson planning in general and in classroom management in particular is time management- realistic allocation of class time for the attainment of pre-specified goals. For managing time, teachers should carefully define their objectives for each class . Next, they should be flexible because class activities are seldom accomplished ideally on the predetermined times and the teachers should be able to reshape their lesson plans based on unexpected events and occasional learner demands. However, teachers should prioritize their tasks to ensure that they cover the most important subjects within the class time. This is only possible by enlisting time-controlled activities such as group work, role playing, in-class writing, individual oral presentations, and so on. On this basis, by planning lessons carefully (i.e., lesson planning), teachers can manage class time effectively.
On average, I use one-third of the class time for lecture, one-third of the time for small group activities, and one-third of the time for students to present to and discuss with the rest of the class what their groups have discovered.
Identify the priorities and accordingly plan the lessons in a class.
Time management is about control. When you allow time to control you, you never have enough of it. On the other hand, when you control your available time, you can allocate your time available to complete tasks and duties. Time management is about using the time that you have available as productively as possible. It is about working smarter – not harder.
I read this in an article -Time Management for Teachers. Have a look - http://www.timemanagementforteachers.com.au/Time_Management_For_Teachers_files/Time%20Management%20for%20Teachers%20PREVIEW%20Pages.pdf
I think , it is pretty straight forward or at least I know . Topic dependent involving problems take a bit more time , theory has its own limitation (needs dragging of time) .
I can speak for hours , so programming session I take 8 + hours
I always plan my lesson before the class, apportioning number of minutes for each of the aspects of the lesson: Introduction (R.P.K), Body (content knowledge), evaluation, conclusion, question time etc. It makes it easy in managing the assigned time for my lectures. Best regards
In teaching session we have come with the preparation of study so that we can contribution our lesson well in the within time for our students . Time is the very basic essence in the life of every individual for which i have sometime back my publication under the caption '' Time is our Life'' in this article i have not cover education but all the aspect of our life .
Using time constructively and efficiently is an essential skill to develop. First Year students often struggle with this aspect and it is with the first assignment that many students realise they should have started the assignment earlier, allowed more time or been better organised. As students progress throughout their degree they become more accustomed to the time it takes to do things. They also become more efficient as they understand expectations, develop skills and reflect on feedback given. Time management and good planning allows students to spread their workload throughout the semester rather than respond reactively to assignment deadlines which can often coincide at the same time. Time management and good planning also equip students to handle the stress of studying much better.
