Amir Shariffar ,are you talking about lateral length o the device? If so , do you have situation of small spot illumination or uniform illumination over the whole length?

I have several devices with interdigital electrodes and a finger-spacing variable from 5 um to 100 um. The length of each finger is 2 mm. Attached is the schematic of the device and the expected current between electrodes is:

Ip = enwl(μn + μp )V/d

where (w = 2d)

w: finger-width

d: finger-spacing

Thanks for your comments. My device is not a photodiode, it's a Schottky-junction photodetector.

The light illumination is uniform all over the device. The variable that I am referring to is the distance between electrodes (d) as it is shown in the picture above.

Many thanks for sharing your design. There are intensive studies regarding how the dimension of channel length and channel width affect the currents. The active area plays major role for certain range of detector dimentions. The mechanism behind are complicated because of charge carrier transport, optical effects and electrode edge influences. The selection of wider range of channel lengths could limit the edge effects, so you can investigate the optoelectronic effects. In general, the careful design of the dimension and electrode selection could be very interesting to do for such research!
