In my opinion, the revaluation of values is an integral part of the globalization process. This process already existed. In the era of globalization, however, it has accelerated. There is both a positive and a negative side to the devaluation of values. This process has a negative impact on national self-awareness. But it accelerates the emergence of universal values.
The process can be scientific. Let's imagine a possible world in which an existing standard for quality of eggs is based partly on the color of the yolk: Grade "A" eggs are those whose yolks have a darker orange-yellow color (in addition to other attributes). Then science comes along and establishes that such darker yolks actually are less healthy because of a high level of substance X. So the old value system for grading eggs has lost its value for promoting healthy eating habits and is replaced by an updated system in which similar eggs but with lighter yolks are now given the Grade "A" status.
