Russian discovery of five Arctic islands and the death of the first Icelandic glacier, Okjökull, are two recent observations for the melting ice in Polar Regions of the earth.
I would like to discuss this matter with RG members.
It is certainly difficult to predict and old predictions may be out of tune with realities today.
But we need to gather present information and relay information to the news, so that everybody is aware of the changes. Then, there will be more drastic action to reduce pollution, etc
All prediction are depend on the accuracy of the input data/parameters, methodologies/ trend applied in the models for the prediction. However, present prediction (for the future) may be more accurate than the past prediction.
If scientist have accurately predicted present population growth and pollution rate from past data, and pollution is the main reason for the present climatic changes, past prediction and present result would match each other. If not, we have to re-think about the matter.
The predition of future generally, depends on the basis of accuracy of data on which we have predictedion is made. the prediction which we have made need to be validate by checking with some evidances. then it reavls that it happen or not. that really climate change or not
