I have had a statistical question posed, where the requester is looking to confirm or deny an association between three variables:
1) Paper score (0-100) [scale]
2) Course Grade (A,B,C,D,F) [ordinal]
3) Amount of transfer credits [scale]
I’m bumping my head against the fact that am trying to associate scalar and ordinal, what statistical approach would you suggests?
You can just use a Spearman rank correlation coeffeicient. Its' a non-parametric correlation coefficient. The data have to be at least ordinal.
I think you can use in this case parametric tests, especially the rank correlation coefficient of Spearman. Because the variables are ordinal and quantitative.
Spearman rank correlation coefficient is a nonparametric measure, which I already said above...
