In interviewing college students about their culture.  I find that many people are of mixed races or ethnicities in America.  For this reason, they do not seem to identify 100 percent with being one culture.  Perhaps their parents were another culture, or their children are another culture.  So now, they just say, "I am an American."  I am still in the process of gathering information and writing about these interviews.
