Some claim that the primary school curriculum is outdatet and not relevant for the world our children and youth live in and in the future will work in. If you could make changes to the primary and secondary school curriculum in your country, what you like to change?
In the Ecuadorian curriculum for primary, I would eliminiate the emphasis on grades given in evaluations and make it through skills achieved. I would add a core based on a profile of skills to develop and use the content as the excuse to develop those skills.
Lay Wah Carolina Ching Chiang Thank you for your input. I have seen schools that have their focus on interests instead of skills achieved. It seems like interests and cooperation also helps the "weaker/slower" pupils to achieve. I can see many advantages of not being hung up on grades as you say.
Introduce the subject of weather to the curriculum so that everyone knows whether it has changed or not.
Michael Issigonis I like this idea. It is relevant in so many ways to have a proper understanding of daily weather.
It used to be in the curriculum years ago.
If you ask around what is humidity, normally only 5 % of the public would have some idea. Yet the increase in humidity due to climate change is causing an epidemic of breathing problems (in my area anyway).
Focus on skill-based education.
Reward creativity, original thinking, research and innovation.
