I am working on the effect of spatial patterns of peri-urban neighborhoods on agricultural land use change in Lagos. I have case studies of 2 peri-urban cities. However, to see the effect of spatial patterns of neighborhoods on the landscape function/ecosystem service of food production, I used a longitudinal approach looking at spatial metrics (1984-2016). Do I call this a multi-method research, even if quantitative methods area only used?

Case study is a detailed investigation of a person, group, or phenomenon. Case study is usually qualitative & is "bound" by definition, place, time, and activity.
On the other hand, longitudinal research is a study designed to collect data at more than one point in time. Therefore, it is usually quantitative.
I think that you are articulating varied data collection approaches so I prefer to call what you are conducting as mixed-method research.
Thanks for the insight. But does it mean a case study cannot be quantitative, even if it is an in-depth study of a phenomenon?
