Pot soil amended with plant residue for short duration cucumber growth. if plant residue has high CN ratio (OC: 371g/kg, N:0.97 g/kg). So in that case how to control/balance or lower down the higher CN through exogenous way. Addition of N fertilizer will useful to balance the CN and helps to fast decomposition of plant residue?

There are many effective ways to regulate the C:N ratio of growing medium , even for the short duration crop like cucumber. Best course would be to add urea , but then see the changes . Infact such studies , you should have conducted in laboratory first , then the things would have been lot easier for you . You can also try with vermicompost , rice husk , having comparatively higher nitrogen levels...

Rather to add exogenous source of nitrogen for lowering down high C:N ratio , we should decompose the plant material in a pit and for faster decomposition a microbial consortia of Aspergillus, Penicillium and Trichoderma should be added to the decomposing material . to it some jaggery or molasses solution sd be added for faster growth of fungi.
I dont agree with Dr Anoop regarding adding rice husk for faster decomposition of ccumber waste as rice husk already has high CN ratio. For faster decomposition we sd apply inorganic nitrogen source.
