could you clarify why SEM photos in EDS report without magnification bar and instead scale presented (as in attached file)? So, if we asked that photos were cropped, how could we answer? if there is any scientific reply or reason about this.
Nesreen Yahia It is always preferable in imaging to show a scale bar and not to indicate magnification. This is because if the picture is resized the size of features can still be accurately measured. The assumption here is always that the 250 microns shown in the x-axis is the same as 250 microns in the y-axis of the picture (this won't be true if the aspect ratio of the picture is altered - say from 4:3 to 16:9 - in any reprocessing).
I think the question of cropping revolves around the question "Is the image you show representative of the whole?". How can you 'prove' this to a reviewer.
