I have synthesized polypyrrol by using APS and HCl and black ppt obtained as mentioned in paper. But, when I started to do a conductivity study by four probe method, it doesn't show any changes in current and voltage as temperature increases. Why?
There must be variation in conductivity with change in temperature although it may be small/very small (few mV or microV). what is the room temp conductivity of your sample and range of temperature studied. It may shed more light on your problem.
yeah I know very well that there will be the change in conductivity with the change in temperature. But here the Four Probe Instrument is detecting only the zero current even the temperature is varying. and if I replace Polypyrrole with Polyaniline then it shows proper current and voltage through which i can easily calculate the conductivity of the sample. Even though we all know that the conductivity of Polypyrrole is better then Polyaniline. Can this be due to the APS (oxidising agent)?
I have prepared pallet of the sample. I think that the conductivity of sample decreased or sample become insulator is just because of APS but I am not sure.
In my opinion APS does not make PPy insulator. I have achieved conductivity value ~10S/cm in PPy pellets and ~1S/cm in PPy films when prepared with APS & HCl although excessive amount of APS used may decrease the final conductivity value by 2-3 orders.
