Dear Nandisha P S please do recommend my answer if it was helpful.
As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, the status of journals, whether they are open access (OA) or subscription-based, can change over time. To determine the current access model for the Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, you should visit the journal's official website or check a reliable academic database or directory. Here's how you can find this information:
Visit the Journal's Website: Go to the official website of the Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering. Most journals provide information about their access model (OA or subscription-based) on their homepage or in their "About" or "Guidelines for Authors" section.
Check Academic Databases: You can also use academic databases like PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, or directories like the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) to search for the journal. These databases often provide information about the access model of the journal.
Contact the Journal: If you can't find the information on the journal's website or in databases, consider reaching out to the journal's editorial office or publisher for clarification. They should be able to provide you with the most up-to-date information regarding the journal's access model.
Please keep in mind that the status of journals can change, and open access initiatives have been growing in recent years. Many journals are transitioning from subscription-based to OA or adopting hybrid models, which offer both subscription and OA options for authors. Therefore, it's essential to verify the current access model before submitting your work for publication.
The Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering (KJChE) is a reputable scientific journal published by Springer. It operates on a subscription-based model, where access to the journal's content usually requires a subscription or individual purchase, although some articles may be available as open access depending on the author's choice, funder requirements, or specific publication agreements.
However, journal publishing models can evolve, and some journals might adopt open-access policies for certain articles or issues, so it's advisable to check the current policies and guidelines on the journal's official website or through reliable scholarly databases for the most up-to-date information regarding open access options or subscription requirements for the Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering.
The journal is as indicated by Harshitha Mahesh a subscription-based journal see https://link.springer.com/journal/11814 for more information. However, the journal is originally published by a Korean Institute https://www.kiche.or.kr/kjche/ and if you open the already published issues and click on one of the papers you can download the paper. Making it effectively open access.
There are more journal titles in Springer’s portfolio published this way, like for example “Journal of Biosciences” where on the Springer site https://link.springer.com/journal/12038 the papers are behind a paywall while at the original publishing site https://www.ias.ac.in/Journals/Journal_of_Biosciences/ they are effectively open access. I’ve published a paper this way: Article Identification and in silico analysis of helical lipid bindi...
Best regards.
PS. Because of the above ‘construction’ I presume this journal is not a so-called hybrid journal (where you can opt. for open access) like for example “The Journal of Membrane Biology” https://link.springer.com/journal/232
