If ethyl group in ionic liquid (1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium) is replaced by methyl group. What is the effect of resulted moiety in pretreatment? Please elaborate with respect to polarity and K- T parameters?
It will go down, since you will get a symmetric molecule, with higher viscosity and lower polarity.
I completely agree with the answer given by Boyan Iliev.
For the influence of the alkyl chain on the Ionic liquid viscosity, see this book chapter :
http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/bk-2002-0819.ch004
(K. Seddon published plenty of work about ionic liquid properties)
About the K-T parameters and polarity, this paper is particularly interesting in my opinion :

Hope it helps you.
Best regards.

When I tried to energy minimization my system, I got fatal error as below. Fatal error: Atomtype opls_116 not found Although I've already added this line: ; include water #include "oplsaa.ff/spc.itp" to [molecultype] directive in my topology.
