I have a solar panel to drive a 96W load. So the battery is designed according to the solar panel. Now i want to add a wind turbine to reduce the solar panel dependency. If my wind turbine has the maximum ability to produce 15Watt then how can it contribute to the actual need of 96W. Please help!
The system will need to be designed for the maximum output that will be generated from both wind turbine and solar panel. A charge controller should have a current rating that is high enough to accommodate the maximum current when both sources are generating peak power. These units should have an automatic electrical disconnect circuit that will stop the current from damaging the batteries once they are fully charged. Also, the solar panel should have MPPT based separate charge controller for optimum efficiency of the panel.
For battery capacity calculation you should subtract maximum power production from the mean power production and multiplied it in working hours.
