Hi dear all, I need advice.
I have two peptides with the same sequence but one consists of L-amino acids only and the other consists of D-amino acids only. when they self-assemble in aqueous solution to form nanostructures, do they have identical UV-vis and emission spectra? How about NMR?

The UV spectra is governed by chromophores. If the position of the OH group is away from the chromophores, you should not expect significant changes in the UV spectra. L- and D- designation pre-dates the R and S chiral designation but is still used for amino acids. In fact they are stereo isomers and they can only convert after bond breaking and reforming; therefore, 1H NMR spectra is different because is governed by the electronic environment.
Interesting question.
How do you know they self-assemble ? And is the "self-assembllng" L-L and D-D
or a mix L-D ? Important for NMR.
